Blue Cliffs

from Sefan by Anhaga

/

about

Blue Cliffs was the first song conceived for Anhaga. Sitting atop the iron age hill fort Foel Drygarn amidst the Bronze Age burial cairns, surrounded by the Preseli Hills, the source of the Stonehenge blue stones. Amongst the history, the mist and the peaceful calm of the Welsh countryside, were thoughts of those ancient peoples who took upon themselves to construct such timeless monuments and leave such lasting marks on the landscape.
All of this inspired a song about the efforts our ancestors made to be remembered, and how we look to be remembered ourselves in the future.

lyrics

Blue cliffs, white mist
Empty forest, hunting this
Blood gift, fate shifts
Sky wide open, stars adrift

Stones crack, trees snap
Rising thunder, day turns black
Ash falls, flames crawl
Drowned in silence, future calls

Here we stand, on this land
Humble and proud, silent and loud
Here we fall, on your sword
Bleeding for you, broken and new

Blue skies, eyes wide
Red sun rises, night subsides
Rains fall, wind calls
Woken forces, nature grows

Life new, minds true
Open vista, unknown view
Roads long, legs strong
Endless journey, untold song

Here we stand, on this land
Humble and proud, silent and loud
Here we fall, on your sword
Bleeding for you, broken and new

Blue cliffs, white mist
Blood gift, fate shifts
Stones crack, trees snap
Ash falls, flames crawl

about

Anhaga UK

Anhaga seeks a connection with the human ages that came before us and in turn, their connection to the natural world.

We are connected to them as they are connected to us.

Building instruments and collecting sounds from nature and ancient places, Anhaga tries to offer a way of remembering those connections to the past and the natural world, rather than trying to recreate what came before.
